A Conversation with Tom Robotham & Friends

As the editor-in-chief of Port Folio Weekly for the last 10 years, Tom Robotham continually invited us to join him in conversation about things that truly matter but are too often overlooked amidst what he once called "the white noise of our own anxieties." In 2004, when Pulitzer-prize-winning journalist Bernard L. Stein chose Robotham as the winner of the Virginia Press Association's prestigious D. Lathan Mims Award for Editorial Leadership, Stein remarked, "I particularly like the way [Robotham] calls attention to what is valuable yet cannot be measured by price."

Join us for an evening with Robotham as he reflects on his career in publishing and communications, and insights gleaned from pursuit of his lifelong passions-in particular, the writings of Emerson and Thoreau, the true meaning of liberalism, and the conviction that our great hope, as individuals and as a community, lies in our ability to free ourselves from cultural groupthink.

Joining Robotham will be some special friends, including poet Tim Seibles.

Admission is $8. A portion of the proceeds will help support a new online literary publication.
